A common good for the archipelago
The Stockholm Kayak Trail exists so that more people can experience the archipelago by kayak — safely and sustainably.
We want to lower the threshold and make the Stockholm archipelago one of the world's best areas for kayaking — open to all, on nature's terms.
A kayak trail is like a hiking trail, but on the water. The Stockholm Kayak Trail is a common good — a free and open resource, with no commercial agenda. We map and quality-assure kayak routes through the archipelago, mark out access points, open crossings and connectors, and make it all freely available to anyone who wants to paddle.
The idea is simple: anyone curious about the archipelago should be able to find a safe way out, regardless of prior experience. We believe more paddlers moving gently through nature is a good thing — for people and for the archipelago.

The initiative behind the trail
The Stockholm Kayak Trail is an initiative to help more people get out into the archipelago — and to establish the Stockholm archipelago as one of the world's best areas for kayaking.
Behind the trail are Adam and Jakob, who started it in 2020. Both spent many years as scouts growing up, and got to know each other at university, where they bonded over a shared love of the outdoors. That love of nature is the driving force behind the trail — a wish to make the archipelago more accessible for more people to experience.
Since the start, the trail has grown in dialogue with municipalities, authorities and organisations in the archipelago. The goal has been the same throughout: to lower the threshold and share one of the world's finest places to paddle.
Make the trail your own
We make the trail freely available so you can use it for your own adventures. Download the maps, plan your trip and head out — we encourage everyone to use the information privately.
You'll find the whole network on Google My Maps and as printable map sheets. Feel free to pass the tip on to friends who want to paddle — the trail is here to be used.
